Min Gyu Song is the winner of the prestigious “Guido Cantelli” International Conducting Award 2024 in Milano and Novara. In addition to the main prize, he was also awarded the Management Agencies Jury Award, presented by Mark Hildrew of Askonas Holt and Nicholas Mathias of IMG Artists, and the Orchestra Award.
As a result of his success at Premio Cantelli, Song has gained notable recognition and invitations from distinguished orchestras worldwide. He also received second prize at the 2nd Hiroshima International Conducting Competition in 2024 and has a performance scheduled with the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra for the 2025/26 season. Additionally, he was awarded the orchestra prize at the Erich Bergel International Conducting Competition 2022. Following these achievements, Song was invited to conduct a concert that was broadcast on Romanian national television.
Song has conducted over 20 professional orchestras, including prominent ensembles such as the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, WDR Funkhausorchester Köln, Komische Oper Berlin, Bochum Symphony Orchestra, and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, establishing himself as a conductor with versatile international experience.
A trailblazer in his educational journey, Song earned his master’s degree in orchestral conducting at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and holds a bachelor's degree from the Detmold University of Music.
Song’s dedication to honing his craft has led him to participate in masterclasses and festivals under the guidance of celebrated maestros, including Sir Roger Norrington, Johannes Schlaefli, Markus Stenz, and Osmo Vänskä.
Currently, Min Gyu Song is a conductor with the Academy at the Korean National Opera, actively engaging in both symphonic and operatic performances within the classical music field.
